Michael McConnell | you can't make them stay

June 26 - July 26, 2008
Reception:  Saturday, June 28, 2008, 3-5pm
Artist Biography

Inspired by stories that examine loneliness, responsibility, and choice, Michael McConnell explores the tensions between youth and maturity.  "I fear I have no voice.  I don't remember the details of my childhood, but long to tell my story."

At first glance, McConnell's drawings and sculptures read like fairytales with playful images of children and animals seducing the viewer into the work.  Closer observation, however, strips away the innocence and confronts the viewer with dark stories of skepticism and failure.

Michael McConnell graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus, Ohio.
