Gordon Onslow Ford | Gordon Onslow Ford at Ninety, Paintings From the Last Five Years
Reception: February 15, 2003, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Gordon Onslow Ford will celebrate his ninetieth birthday by exhibiting paintings and works on paper created in the last five years. As one of the original members of the Surrealist group in Paris, Onslow Ford was the spokesperson for the Surrealist Art Movement in the United States during the 1940's, when he conducted a series of lectures and exhibitions in New York. He was also one of the founding members of the Dynaton Group

Influenced by Carl Jung's theory of the collective unconscious and trained in Chinese calligraphy, Gordon Onslow Ford creates vibrant and kinetic paintings exploring what he terms the "inner world" or the world "beyond dreams". In the past year, he has explored greater color variety and depth using the circle, line, and dot as his basic painting vocabulary.
